Clean Energy in The United Kingdom

UCG Feasibility
Linc Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UK Coal Mining Ltd (UK Coal) one of the largest land holders and biggest coal producers in the United Kingdom.

Linc Energy will explore the use of UCG across three UK Coal sites to unlock the United Kingdom’s vast untapped and stranded coal resources. These sites relate to certain areas of coal within the Warwickshire, Yorkshire and Leicestershire Coalfields surface and underground mine infrastructure and sub-station assets.

The agreement positions Linc Energy at the forefront of exciting new UCG opportunities for a wide selection of downstream applications, including power generation, Synthetic Natural Gas or liquid (diesel) fuels production in the United Kingdom.

Aboveground Coal Gasification

Linc Energy has signed an exclusive agreement to invest in 10 per cent of UK listed company PowerHouse Energy Inc to use its leading Pyromex ultra high temperature aboveground gasification process to produce good quality syngas with almost no carbon dioxide emissions. The technology achieves this without consuming high volumes of water or power.

The agreement provides Linc Energy with a perpetual, exclusive, royalty-bearing licence to use, own, fabricate and operate the Pyromex system for aboveground coal gasification for syngas production in all territories, except China (non-exclusive) and Italy.

PowerHouse Energy has also committed to the development of a larger Pyromex system to provide Linc Energy with an enhanced ability to apply the technology to large, mineable coal deposits.

Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Linc Energy has acquired a 10 per cent interest in UK listed AFC Energy focused on the development of low cost hydrogen fuel cells for the cleanest power generation.

Linc Energy is planning to install the latest generation AFC Energy fuel cell to utilise hydrogen removed from the UCG syngas stream to improve the carbon hydrogen ratio for the GTL process. In this case the fuel cell utilises the hydrogen waste stream and produces electricity to contribute to the operation of the GTL plant, whilst only discharging water.
