Oil and Gas in North America

North Slope, Alaska

Linc Energy has identified the energy rich region of Alaska as an ideal location for oil and gas development and subsequent EOR activities.

In the North Slope region Linc Energy has three oil leases covering over 19,000 acres in the National Petroleum Reserve of Alaska. Known as the Umiat oil fields, this is a producing oil operation with peak production estimated at 50,000 barrels per day following the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). This oil production project has gained support from the State of Alaska, announcing plans to build an all-weather road from the TAPS to Umiat. The construction of this transport structure substantially decreases any project development risks, timeframes and capital requirements.

Cook Inlet Basin, Alaska

Linc Energy has 122,184 acres of oil and gas leases in the Cook Inlet Basin and recently drilled the first gas exploration well in the basin in over five years, LEA-1, located on its Point Mackenzie block leases.

Results from drilling have revealed that gas is present, though there is not sufficient fracturing in the coal to allow for the recovery of commercial quantities of gas. Drilling has, however, indicated there to be a significant coal zone suitable for UCG. Drilling will now take place in the Trading Bay block leases on the north west side of the Cook Inlet Basin.

Gulf Coast Region, Louisiana and Texas

Linc Energy has 14 operating oil fields in the Gulf Coast Onshore and Inland Waters regions, producing about 3,300 barrels of oil per day. The facility includes a pipeline, tank batteries and processing facilities and infrastructure.

Of the 14 fields purchased, 12 of these are located in the Texas oilfields region and two are located in the Louisiana oil fields region. Both Louisiana fields will undergo exploratory drilling over the coming 12 to 24 months to further build production to a potential 6,300 barrels per day. Over the coming 12 months, Linc Energy will be exploring EOR techniques to increase the extraction of oil from the existing reservoirs.

Powder River Basin, Wyoming

Linc Energy has three oil producing fields in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin producing about 190 barrels of oil per day. The three operating are referred to as ‘Big Muddy’, ‘South Glenrock B’ and ‘South Cole Creek’ and they provide a significant opportunity for Linc Energy to apply EOR techniques for greater oil recovery. Linc Energy’s UCG operations also planned for the Powder River Basin provide a unique synergy to use waste carbon dioxide from the process for EOR.
