GTL – Gas To Liquids Technical Process

Linc Energy is the first company in the world to combine UCG and Gas to Liquids (GTL) technologies for the production of cleaner synthetic transport fuels such as diesel and jet A-1. This represents an exciting opportunity for Linc Energy to take low value ‘stranded’ coal and produce highly valuable transport fuels.

Combined UCG and GTL operations can be established in locations wherever there is deep coal suitable for UCG.

Linc Energy has established a Memorandum of Understanding with BP Australia Pty Ltd to take a minimum of 70 per cent of produced synthetic fuels from the company’s combined UCG to GTL facility in Queensland, Australia.

How GTL works

GTL is the process of converting a gas to a liquid. It is a chemical conversion process whereby UCG syngas is transformed into synthetic crude (syncrude) using the GTL Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process. Produced syncrude can then be refined using traditional methods to produce cleaner diesel and jet fuels.
